Ammonites polyptychus stubendorffi was named by Schmidt (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Valanginian; Greenland, Arctic Canada.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Polyptychites stubendorffi by Pavlov (1914); it was recombined as Siberiptychites stubendorffi by Klimova (1981); it was recombined as Siberiptychites (Siberiptychites) stubendorffi by Jeletzky and Kemper (1988); it was recombined as Euryptychites (Propolyptychites) stubendorffi by Bogomolov (1989); it was recombined as Polyptychites (Siberiptychites) stubendorffi by Kemper (1977), Klimova (1981) and Alsen (2006).
