Taxonomy
Ammonites chevillei was named by Pictet and Renevier (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenomanian; Europe, southern and western Africa, central Asia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Forbesiceras chevillei by Kennedy (1994), Kennedy and Klinger (2008).
