Taxonomy
Baculites vagina simplex was named by Kossmat (1895) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; South Africa; India, Western Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Giralites simplex by Brunnschweiler (1966); it was recombined as Eubaculites simplex by Henderson et al. (1992) and Klinger and Kennedy (1993).
