Taxonomy
Catinella depressa was named by Stache (1877). Its type specimen is Lost, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Catinella.

It was recombined as Naticopsis depressa by Knight (1941) and Termier and Termier (1977).

Knight 1941Seemingly anomphalous, naticiform gastropods, without a sinus or slit in the outer lip; whorl profile rather flatly rounded above, more strongly rounded over the periphery; sutures seemingly rather shallow; nucleus unknown; base rounded, seemingly anomphalous; columellar and parietal lips not well known; outer lip seemingly with gentle backward obliquity and very slight forward convexity; ornamentation very fine growth lines with much finer discontinuous revolving striae between; shell unknown in detail. The holotype measures about 16 mm. in height with a width of about 18 mm.
