Taxonomy
Marginifera nesiotes was named by Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 212293, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Marginifera (Nesiotia) nesiotes by Chen and Shi (2006).
