Sister taxa: Eopelobates anthracinus, Eopelobates bayeri, Eopelobates hiuschei, Eopelobates wagneri

Type specimen: Princeton University No. 16441, a skeleton (nearly complete skeleton lacking only some skull and distal limb bones). Its type locality is Divide between West Fork and Main Fork of Indian Creek, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota.

Ecology: amphibious carnivore

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (2: South Dakota collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
