Sister taxa: Trachodon altidens, Trachodon imperfectus, Trachodon marginatus, Trachodon mirabilis, Trachodon selwyni
Type specimen: AMNH 1390. Its type locality is Swedesboro (Navesink), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Navesink Formation of New Jersey.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Trachodon atavus in the database
