Type specimens:

  • Palaeosaniwa canadensis: USNM 10864, a set of vertebrae (partial dorsal vertebra). Its type locality is Near Steveville, which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Oldman Formation of Canada.
  • Megasaurus robustus: USNM 2910. Its type locality is Peterson's Quarry, which is in a Lancian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
