Sister taxon: Parophisaurus mccloskeyi

Type specimen: KU 1281, a partial skull (fragments of left maxilla, right mandible, right frontal, and overlying dental armor). Its type locality is Pawnee Creek beds, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Colorado.

Distribution:

• Oligocene of United States (12: Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming collections)

Total: 12 collections each including a single occurrence
