Type specimen: AL 170-1A & AL 170-1B, a partial skull (mandible and cranial fragments). Its type locality is Hadar - DD General, which is in a Piacenzian wet floodplain horizon in the Hadar Formation of Ethiopia.

Ecology: amphibious grazer-browser

Distribution: found only at Hadar - DD General
