Type specimens:

  • Allodesmus sinanoensis: no number, a skull. Its type locality is Aso, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian coastal shale in the Aoki Formation of Japan.
  • Allodesmus megallos: SFMV 0002. Its type locality is Kashiwa-zawa, which is in a Serravallian marine horizon in the Aoki Formation of Japan.
  • Allodesmus sadoensis: SICC 0001. Its type locality is Do-no-kama, which is in a Langhian marine horizon in the Tsurushi Formation of Japan.
