Type specimen: UCMP 100391, a partial skull (anterior half of skull lacking teeth). Its type locality is Pyramid Hill, upper concretion-bearing bed, which is in an Aquitanian marine sandstone in the Jewett Formation of California.

Ecology: amphibious carnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (2: California, Oregon collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
