Type specimens:

  • Xiphiacetus bossi: USNM 8842, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Chesapeake Beach, south of, Zones 3-6, which is in a Burdigalian offshore siltstone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
  • Eurhinodelphis morrisi: USNM 167622, a skull. Its type locality is Church Point, east of, Zone 12-13, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Virginia.
  • Eurhinodelphis vaughni: USNM 244410, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Parker Creek, south, Zone 12, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
  • Priscodelphinus productus: IRSNB 3243, a partial skull. Its type locality is Vieux-Dieu, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Berchem Formation of Belgium.

• Miocene of Belgium (2 collections), Italy (1), United States (19: Maryland, Virginia)
