Type specimens:

  • Spalacotherium tricuspidens: BMNH 46019, a mandible (left mandible). Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Lower Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie coll.), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
  • Peralestes longirostris: BMNH 47740, a maxilla (partial right upper jaw). Its type locality is Mammal Bed, Durlston Bay (DB83), which is in a Berriasian marine horizon in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

Ecology: scansorial insectivore
