Type specimens:

  • Birbalomys woodi: LUVP 15005 1a, a maxilla (sin. with P3-M3). Its type locality is Chenpur (LU 1007), which is in a Lutetian terrestrial shale in the Subathu Formation of India.
  • Metkamys blacki: L.U.V.P. 20026, a tooth (right M1). Its type locality is Metka Coalfield, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian marine shale in the Subathu Formation of India.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Eocene of India (7 collections), Pakistan (1)
