Type specimen: USNM 7581, a carapace (posterior half of shell). Its type locality is Shoshone River, near Cody, which is in an Albian terrestrial shale in the Thermopolis Shale Formation of Wyoming.

Distribution: found only at Shoshone River, near Cody
