Sister taxa: Madtsoia bai, Madtsoia camposi, Madtsoia pisdurensis

Type specimen: MNHN MAJ 5, a set of vertebrae (posterior trunk vertebra). Its type locality is Gite du Guide, north of Berivotra, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Maevarano Formation of Madagascar.
