Type specimen: ANSP 11231, a set of vertebrae (two lumbar and two caudal vertebrae). Its type locality is James T. Thomas estate, which is in a Serravallian offshore shelf horizon in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (4: Delaware, Maryland collections), Venezuela (1)
