Sister taxon: Peneteius saueri

Type specimen: MCZ 3612, a mandible (partial right dentary with four teeth and the bases of four others). Its type locality is Bug Creek Anthills, which is in a Maastrichtian coarse channel fill sandstone in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana.
