Sister taxon: Eubaena hatcheri

Type specimen: YPM 1785 (accession number 2110), a skull. Its type locality is Converse County (?now Niobrara County), Eubaena cephalica holotype locality, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
