Sister taxon: Eomysticetus carolinensis
Type specimen: ChM PV4253, a partial skull. Its type locality is Greenhurst, which is in a Chattian shoreface sandstone in the Chandler Bridge Formation of South Carolina.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore-suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at Greenhurst
