Type specimen: MCZ 15749, a skull. Its type locality is Charleston, Tiger Leap, which is in a Chattian marine horizon in the Tiger Leap Formation of South Carolina.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Charleston, Tiger Leap
