Type specimens:

  • Odaxosaurus piger: USNM 10687, a mandible (posterior portion of a right dentary containing six teeth and space for three others)
  • Odaxosaurus obliquus: USNM 10751 (median portion of right dentary with four teeth). Its type locality is Lance Creek area (non-specific), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.

Distribution:

• Paleocene of United States (11: Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Wyoming collections)

• Cretaceous of Canada (11: Alberta, Saskatchewan), United States (21: Colorado, Montana, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wyoming)

Total: 43 collections each including a single occurrence
