Sister taxon: Xenorophus simplicidens
Type specimen: USNM 11049, a partial skull (partial skull, missing posterior & basicranium). Its type locality is Woodstock Station, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Ashley Formation of South Carolina.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore
Distribution:
• Oligocene of United States (3: South Carolina collections)
Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
