Sister taxa: Archaeotypotherium propheticus, Archaeotypotherium tinguiriricaense

Type specimen: SGOPV 2918, right maxilla bearing P2-M3, a maxilla. Its type locality is Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial volcaniclastic in the Abanico Formation of Chile.

Ecology: scansorial herbivore

Distribution: found only at Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2
