Sister taxon: Chrysocetus fouadassii

Type specimen: SCSM 87.195, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Santee Portland Cement Co. quarry, which is in a Priabonian marine wackestone/grainstone in the Tupelo Bay Formation of South Carolina.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Santee Portland Cement Co. quarry
