Type specimen: AMNH FM 5022, a partial skeleton (partial right and left dentaries, premaxillary and maxillary fragments bearing right I2–I3 and right and left C1, partial right and left manus, and additional, ). Its type locality is Mammoth Butte, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Washakie Formation of Wyoming.
