Type specimens:

  • Promerycochoerus carrikeri: CM 1080, a partial skeleton (Skull with I1-M3, mandible with i1-m3, and most of skeleton). Its type locality is Monroe Creek (Type), which is in a Monroecreekian terrestrial horizon in the Monroe Creek Formation of Nebraska.
  • Promerycochoerus (Parapromerycochoerus) barbouri: F:AM 33315, a skull (Skull with I1(alv.)-M3). Its type locality is Keeline, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of Wyoming.
  • Promerycochoerus gregoryi:
  • Promerycochoerus thomsoni: Its type locality is Southwest of Eagles Nest Butte, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in South Dakota.
  • Promerycochoerus vantasselensis: CM 1230. Its type locality is Van Tassel (Lower), which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
