Sister taxa: Proharrymys schlaikjeri, Proharrymys wahlerti

Type specimen: SDSM 56121, a mandible (right ramus with incisor and p4-m3). Its type locality is Sharps (SDSM V-5354), which is in a Geringian terrestrial horizon in the Sharps Formation of South Dakota.

• Arikareean of United States (2: Nebraska collections)

• Oligocene of United States (7: Nebraska, South Dakota)

Total: 9 collections each including a single occurrence
