Type specimen: LACM 17039, a partial skeleton (partial skull and mandible plus postcranial fragments). Its type locality is Wolff Ranch (LACM 2002), which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of South Dakota.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore

Distribution:

• Oligocene of United States (3: Oregon, South Dakota collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
