Type specimens:

  • Mesodma thompsoni: Its type locality is Lull 2 Quarry (UCMP V-5620), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Lance Formation of Wyoming
  • Mesodma garfieldensis: UCMP 116622, a mandible. Its type locality is Worm Coulee 1, which is in a Puercan coarse channel fill sandstone in the Fort Union Formation of Montana.

Ecology: arboreal omnivore

• Cretaceous of Canada (7: Alberta, Saskatchewan), United States (35: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming)
