Sister taxa: Rapamys fricki, Rapamys wilsoni
Type specimen: AMNH 128706, a skull. Its type locality is Rapamys Site, Black Butte I, which is in an Uintan/Duchesnean fluvial siltstone in Montana.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Rapamys Site, Black Butte I
