Type specimens:

  • Hyracodon leidyanus: YPM 11168, a partial skull (a maxillary and ramus with tooth series P1 to M2 and p2 to m1, inclusive.). Its type locality is Crow Buttes (Whitney-South Dakota), which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in South Dakota.

Distribution:

• Oligocene of United States (7: Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota collections)

Total: 7 collections each including a single occurrence
