Sister taxon: Xenosmilus hodsonae

Type specimen: OR-1352, a skull (complete and compressed skull, lacks the upper incisors, left third premolar and left first molar). Its type locality is El Breal de Orocual, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial tar/tar in the Mesa Formation of Venezuela.

Ecology: scansorial carnivore

Average measurements (in mm): Greatest diameter of the tympanic bulla diameter 42.7

Distribution: found only at El Breal de Orocual
