Type specimens:

  • Helaletes nanus: YPM 11080, a maxilla (fragments of both upper jaws with all the cheek-teeth represented on the right side). Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
  • Helaletes boops: YPM 11807, a partial skeleton (considerable portion of the skull, lower jaws and other fragments of the skeleton). Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (19: Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming collections)
