Type specimens:

  • Enhydrocyon stenocephalus: AMNH 6902, a partial skull (cranial fragments). Its type locality is John Day (non-specific), which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the John Day Formation of Oregon.
  • Enhydrocyon oregonensis: YPM 12730, a partial skull (partial anterior skull).

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore

Distribution:

• Arikareean of United States (1: Oregon collection)

• Oligocene of United States (2: Oregon)
