Sister taxa: Brachypsalis hyaenoides, Brachypsalis matutinus, Brachypsalis modicus, Brachypsalis pachycephalus

Type specimen: PU 12070, a mandible (left ramus of the lower jaw with p--my and alveoli of the canine and first premolar). Its type locality is Princeton Loc. 1000C, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Olcott Formation of Nebraska.

Ecology: scansorial carnivore-omnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (3: California, Nebraska collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
