Type specimens:

  • Alostera saskatchewanensis: UALVP 22753, a tooth (left M1). Its type locality is Wounded Knee (WK), which is in a Lancian coarse channel fill sandstone in the Frenchman Formation of Canada.
  • Paranyctoides megakeros: AMNH 109420, a tooth (m1). Its type locality is Toothed-bird Hill, which is in a Campanian estuary/bay sandstone in the Mesaverde Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: scansorial insectivore

Distribution:

• Cretaceous of Canada (3: Alberta, Saskatchewan collections), United States (4: Montana, Wyoming)

Total: 7 collections each including a single occurrence
