  • Sphenotherus zavaletianus: MACN 802. Its type locality is Andalhuala, which is in a Messinian/Zanclean terrestrial horizon in the Andalhuala Formation of Argentina.
  • Sphenotherus paranensis: Its type locality is Ciudad de Paraná, which is in a Huayquerian fluvial-deltaic conglomerate/sandstone in the Ituzaingó Formation of Argentina.
