Etymology. From the Greek word (mikros), meaning small, tiny, in reference to the rather small vertebral size of this snake species.

Type specimen: UU MAA 7615, a set of vertebrae (posterior trunk vertebra). Its type locality is Maramena, which is in a Turolian alluvial fan conglomerate/marl in the Lefkon Formation of Greece.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Maramena
