Sister taxa: Rhinodipterus secans, Rhinodipterus stolbovi, Rhinodipterus ulrichi

Type specimen: WAM 09.6.149, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Rhinodipterus kimberleyensis-type locality, which is in a Frasnian reef, buildup or bioherm horizon in the Gogo Formation of Australia.

Distribution: found only at Rhinodipterus kimberleyensis-type locality
