Sister taxa: Chamaeleo bavaricus, Chamaeleo caroliquarti, Chamaeleo chameleon, Chamaeleo dilepis, Chamaeleo monachus, Chamaeleo pfeili

Type specimen: Pb 02056, a partial skull (nearly complete parietal but lacking the posterior portion). Its type locality is Dolnice, which is in a MN 4 fluvial-lacustrine siltstone/marl in the Czech Republic.
