Sister taxa: Gulo diaphorus, Gulo gulo, Gulo primigenius
Type specimen: ETMNH 3663, a maxilla (partial right maxilla with P2 and P4). Its type locality is Gray Fossil Site, which is in a Hemphillian/Blancan sinkhole siltstone/conglomerate in Tennessee.
Ecology: scansorial carnivore-omnivore
Distribution: found only at Gray Fossil Site
