Type specimen: USNM 639750, a limb element (subcomplete left humerus). Its type locality is Nottaway River, which is in a Miocene/Zanclean marine horizon in the Eastover Formation of Virginia.

Ecology: amphibious piscivore-carnivore

Distribution: found only at Nottaway River
