Type specimens:

  • Branchiosaurus salamandroides: NMP 332/M1167 (Lectotype), a skeleton. Its type locality is Nyrany, which is in a Westphalian D lacustrine coal in the Kladno Formation of the Czech Republic.
  • Protriton fayoli: Its type locality is Commentry, which is in a Stephanian C terrestrial horizon in France.

Ecology: amphibious carnivore

Distribution:

• Carboniferous of the Czech Republic (2 collections), France (1)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
