Type specimens:

  • Apateon flagrifer: UMZC T.22 (formerly DMSW B.48), a skeleton (in dorsal aspect). Its type locality is Gottlob quarry, Friedrichroda, which is in an Asselian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Goldlauterer Formation of Germany.
  • Branchiosaurus brachyrhynchus:
