Sister taxa: Spathicephalus mirus, Spathicephalus pereger
Type specimen: NMS G 2015.37.1, a skull. Its type locality is East Fife coast, which is in a Visean lacustrine mudstone in the Anstruther Formation of the United Kingdom.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at East Fife coast
