Type specimens:

  • Neurankylus baueri: USNM 8344, a shell (a complete shell). Its type locality is Ojo Alamo-Hunter (USNM), which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Kirtland Formation of New Mexico.
  • Neurankylus hutchisoni: UCMP 154450, a partial skeleton (A carapace and plastron missing approximately one-third of the right side, two cervical vertebrate, two sacral vertebrae, two caudal vertebrae, both scapulae, r). Its type locality is UCMP V93118 (Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument), which is in a Campanian fluvial horizon in the Kaiparowits Formation of Utah.
  • Neurankylus utahensis: UMNH VP 22100, a set of postcrania (A nearly complete carapace and plastron). Its type locality is UCMP V93118 (Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument), which is in a Campanian fluvial horizon in the Kaiparowits Formation of Utah.
