Sister taxa: Proansomys daxnerae, Proansomys dureensis
Type specimen: NHMW 2015/0374/ 0002, a mandible. Its type locality is Taatsiin Gol, right side, section TGR-C, layer 1, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial mudstone in the Hsanda Gol Formation of Mongolia.
Ecology: fossorial herbivore
