Sister taxon: Otekaikea marplesi

Type specimen: OU 22306, a partial skeleton (skull, right periotic and sigmoid process of left bulla, fused mandibles, 60 isolated conical-crowned teeth, atlas, axis, three other cervical vertebrae, 12 tho). Its type locality is Haughs Quarry (I40/f0291B), which is in a Waitakian offshore shelf lime mudstone in the Otekaike Limestone Formation of New Zealand.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Haughs Quarry (I40/f0291B)
